This morning, Ottawa was virtually shut down after an armed assailant shot and killed a Canadian soldier on sentry duty at the Canadian War Memorial, and then extended his assault on the national Parliament building. Corporal Nathan Cirillo was reportedly shot in the back when he was killed. Two other were also said to be wounded by the gunman, until he was shot dead by the Sergeant-at-Arms, Kevin Vickers in the Parliament building.
